Brownson PLLC is pleased to announce that attorney Kristi Brownson, together with co-counsel from Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., prevailed in defeating a motion for sanctions sought in a miscellaneous matter brought against insurer Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in relation to a subpoena issued in the Diocese of Duluth v. Liberty Mutual Insurance Company et. al., 17-cv-03254-DWF-LIB, action. In an Order filed on January 7, 2019, Magistrate Judge Leo I. Brisbois denied Fr. Thomas Patrick Doyle’s motion for sanctions, finding that sanctions against the insurer were completely inapplicable based on the record of the case and that Fr. Doyle “failed to demonstrate that the insurer failed to ‘take reasonable steps to avoid imposing [an] undue burden’” in serving him a subpoena.
