Brownson PLLC is pleased to announce that attorneys Robert Brownson and Olivia Cooper, together with their co-counsel from Tressler, LLP in Chicago, successfully defeated an attempt by an alleged victim of catholic priest abuse from being allowed to intervene in two pending insurance coverage cases by the Catholic Diocese of St. Cloud, Minnesota, thirty parishes within that Diocese, and the Catholic Mutual Relief Society against Brownson PLLC’s insurer client and its alleged predecessor companies. The cases are, The Catholic Mutual Relief Society of America v. Arrowood Indemnity Company, and Diocese of St. Cloud, et. al. v. Arrowood Indemnity Company, et. al.
The alleged victim, identified as Doe 524, was one of seventy such alleged vistims with claims against the Diocese and/or its parish churches. Doe 524 sought to intervene in the insurance coverage cases claiming an interest in their outcome.
In two Orders, dated April 23, 2018, Magistrate Judge Leo I. Brisbois of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota denied the intervention attempts.
